Labia Atrophy

What is a Labia Atrophy?

The effects of childbirth, menopause, weight loss and the natural ageing process lead to several significant changes to a woman’s body. The female genitalia, in particular, can develop significant changes which may result in a significant loss of self-confidence. Women are often concerned about the appearance of the labia majora which are the outer lips of the vulva. The labia majora often loses its inherent skin elasticity with a loss of suppleness leading to loose skin over time and these changes can be amplified by declining levels of oestrogen as part of the ageing process.

Whilst most women are concerned about the cosmetic appearance off deflated labia majora, they may also develop functional symptoms as a result of loss of volume in the labia majora. The outer labia function as a protective cushion for the vulva which facilitates sexual intercourse and other physical activities such as riding a bike. When the labia majora becomes deflated, sexual activity may become painful due to the loss of the protective cushioning effect provided by normal labia majora.

Labia puffing is a type of vaginal rejuvenation procedure that is designed to address changes in the size or shape of the labia majora with the restoration of fullness and increased suppleness of the labia majora.

Vaginal Rejuvenation

Vaginal rejuvenation is a broad term that describes various vaginal corrective procedures. Due to causes ranging from childbirth and aging to genetics, your vagina and its surrounding tissues may lose elasticity and strength. This leads to several issues like incontinence (leaking urine), vaginal dryness, sagging skin and lack of sexual pleasure. Many women or people assigned female at birth (AFAB) look to vaginal rejuvenation to improve these conditions and restore the look and function of their vagina. There are surgical and nonsurgical options for vaginal rejuvenation
